Christmas at the Shop

It has been rather fun this year decorating the store for Christmas. I don’t go all crazy with decorations as “less is more” in my thinking but the front window turned out nice and festive and with a bit of garland and new inentory the inside is Christmassy as well. I think the best part is getting all the new inventory and rearranging the store store to make room for it.

For the month of December Sheri of Mountain Spirits Clothing has once again set up her clothing and accessories in the back third of the store. (She was here last Chrismtas as well.) It has been wonderful to have her share the space again and it gives me some more days off as she works some of the hours as well.

My mom even got in on the action while she has been here. She was at the store with me for two days and then she was ready to take it on herself. It has been the BEST having her here. My house has never looked so clean and my laundry room is empty of those scattered dirty items that you just never get around to. Between the two of us we have pretty much finished all the Chrismas baking…toffee almond treats, shortbread, almond bark, pecan pralines, fudge puddles, chocolate cream cheese muffins, brownies, and cuban lunches. Thank goodness we are hosting a Christmas party so I don’t have to eat it all.

Well, I am off to watch Corner Gas with my mom until she falls asleep on the couch.

Update from ‘delicious baby and toddler boutique’

Well, it has been about nine months since I opened for business. (September 2009) It has been busy and challanging at times but I am definitely enjoying the time learning about being an enterpreneur and business woman.

Quite a lot has happened. I had my grand opening at the biginning of Dcecember which was a great success. I did a lot of advertising including local papers and radio ads which helped to spread the word. That same weekend was Rossland’s annual ‘Spirit of Christmas’. A weekend dedicated to a lot of outdoor fun and activities…’chestnuts roasting on an open fire’, hot apple cider, pictures with santa, carollers singing in the streets and the lighting of the huge christmas tree.

I also have a website now and a ‘Delicious Baby and Toddler Boutique’ facebook page. So if you want you can join and stay up to date with everything ‘Delicious’.

Fast forward to now…the business is still going well. There have been a lot of babies born this spring which has hepled in keeping me open for business and to re-stock and buy new inventory.

The photos below is the photo shoot that Carmen Adams a local photographer from FRESHphotos took of my store. She did a wonderful job and I love her style…always FRESH.

Here are some pictures of the store now that I am opened.
The first week went well. There was lots of positive feedback and people are excited about a baby store in Rossland. Most of them say they travel or buy on line to get the unique and stylish items they are looking for for their little ones. I have also gotten more of a feel as to what other items people would like to see. Clothing is a big one. I would also like to do a little bit of maternity and see how that goes. I have advertised in four local publications so far which will help to spread the word but once the ‘word of mouth’ gets around that will definitely help out with the traffic.
So, now that I am opened you will all have to come out for a visit to check out Delicioius Baby and Toddler Boutique!

Here is the article that the Trail Daily Times did on my store. The word is starting to spread about its soon opening and I have had lots and lots of positve feedback. Many are looking forward to having a place go to buy unique and trendy baby items. My stock is starting to come in and as soon as there is enough I will have the grand opening. So if you are ever in the area make sure you stop by to see what “Delicious” is all about!!

I am still here but I have been so busy with the opening of my baby store that I have not had time to post any pages. The renos are finally pretty much done so now comes the fun part of putting up shelving, etc. and filling it with inventory. I am hoping to have my grand opening in September if all goes well. I will also post some before and after pictures of the renos soon. And then once the store is officially open I will post some of the completed project. I am very excited about the whole thing but it has been a lot of work. But all the work is definitley paying off. See you soon!
